Alyssa Goes to Africa Pt.II
I modified one of my source book entries as a flyer for a benefit I’m having. It’s been a long time since I’ve “designed” something. I’m pretty happy with it
For the month of July I will be going to Kenya with an NGO called The Tumaini Children’s Project. I’ll be leading a team who will be teaching photography to 90 children living at St. Theresa’s Orphanage. Not only are many of the children living with HIV/ AIDS, but they also face incredible hardships and the stigma associated disease.
The photographs that the children take will be exhibited at the end of July at a block party in their community. It is an effort to raise AIDS awareness and to finally give the children of St. Theresa’s a voice. When we come back we will be taking the exhibit to Quebec City for the World Youth Congress. Also, we will be documenting the whole process for a documentary similar to “Born into Brothels.”
